need help with a possible carb problem

didnt think this belonged in "general maintenance" but feel free to move it if need be. 8) on the way home from the store before i got back on and when it started it kinda popped and i saw a small cloud of white smoke come from the front. it started but the whole way home it ran like total garbage, almost like i was running on one cylinder or like someone maybe stuffed a banana in the tailpipe. well i got home, removed the gastank which sucks to get to the plugs. unfortunately the plugs look ok, but i noticed that the front carb was basically off the big hose that connects it to the front cylinder. now i dont know if i pulled this out when i removed the air cleaner just now but is it possible some kind of pressure actually pushed the carb out of this hose?

it really felt like it was running on one cylinder too but im not the best when it comes to fixing bikes but im learning as i go here with a crash course and the service manual. any advice appreciated for my 97 marauder.

by the way, id like to say that sometimes it really sucks having a girlfriend. now i have to go fishing when i wanted to take care of this NOW instead of tomorrow. :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:   :frusty: :frusty:

had a xv1000 virago that would blow the carbs out of the boots on deceleration because of the smog crap that lets air into cylinder when you let off throttle-sounds like same thing.lean condition causes backfire.

carry enough tools to fix it again on the road.mine would sometimes go for a month then it would do it again.always 100 miles from civilization.
