Cylinder wall ring
Hey all I bought a Yamaha XT225 for a bargain b/c it has issues, one being burnin oil.. I'm doin a top end rebuild and the cylinder wall has a dented ring on it, you can feel the indent when u run your fingers across it, and the piston head has alot of scorch on it.. WDYall tHINK?? Could the cylinder issue be the problem the oil is getting thru and wreakin havoc.. yes the cycle burns oil when runnin lol.. thx all here's sum pics

Re: Cylinder wall ring
That's definitely one of the reasons it's blowing by. The second reason is that there is absolutely no cross hatch left on the cylinder wall. Unfortunately you're gonna need to either bore it out or get a new cylinder head, new rings, and either a new piston (if you bore it out), or to clean the living daylights out of the current piston if you get a new head.
