Hi I am new to this forum and I have recently gone through a tremendous amount of repair work on my v star 1100 as it was a victim of hurricane sandy and was under salt water, anyway I repaired everything from corroded heads to replacing valves and cams. my question now is when I go to put my bike into first gear and let out the clutch she stalls. Is there anyone familiar with this problem, and can it be the friction plates for the clutch? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Pollytrew ( Bobby )

Hey Bobby I am not sure if your bike has a hydraulic clutch? I am in Hopatcong but work in Kearny. The clutch if hydraulic may need to be bled and new fluid run through it. I have quite a few freinds lost machines to that freekin scurge of a storm

Dave thanks my friend I will definitely check into this. Have fun my man and keep riding til there's ice under wheels then maybe park it!

The V-Star is a cable clutch. Was the kickstand still down?

So let me get this straight, you pull in the clutch, put the bike in first gear, and when you start letting the clutch out the engine lugs down and dies.

The kickstand switch may indeed be your culprit especially if it was submerged it may not be functioning even if you have it up.
