86 suzuki intruder...wont start

my husband bought a 1986 suzuki intruder last weekend...rode 3 times and it then it wouldn't start...no lights nothing. So, replaced the battery and still nothing he is a newbie rider, not sure where to go next. We have tried 3 different batteries all with the same result...any thoughts or are we missing something simple here???

Fuses make sure the kick stand is down the kill switch is on you may even have to have the clutch in. Check your fuses first

Any clicking? Sounds like a fuse or an electrical gremlin.

Kill switch in the unkilled position?
