All new, liquid-cooled, 689cc, inline twin has been designed to provide deep, powerful torque in the most frequently used rpm range (3,000 to 6,500 rpm). A single balancer shaft keeps things silky smooth, while the 6-speed transmission with overdrive 6th gear reduces engine rpms at highway speeds and enhances the engine's character.

The 38mm Mikuni throttle body fuel injection system combines with the 270 degree "Crossplane Concept" CP2 crankshaft to provide easy to use linear throttle response, providing the rider with the ability to control the FZ-07 at will.

TMW Notes: Just released this week, the FZ-07 comes to Canada straight from across the Pond where it was new last year. No word yet if the USA will get the FZ-07, but I'm sure it will as it did get the new FZ-09. Which brings up an interesting point with the FZ-01... Will it be discontinued or be re-invented as the 2015 Yamaha FZ-12?

I gave it a cool and want to give it an awesome but I reserved that for the triple 09

I voted fail...but it's subjective. 5 seconds on that bike would hurt my back and knees.

If I were going to dip a toe in the standard-sport category, it'd be on something like this.

Modest power, excellent MPG and a sexy profile with a hunkered down front end -- there's nothing here not to like. A pair of decent panniers could make this a competent weekender, but I don't think any serious touring would be possible without a top box, and at that point everything I like about this bike's stance would have been lost.

So, a solid Cool for this Yammie, I'll definitely have something a lot like this someday I'm sure.

You know Blues you might be pleasantly surprised. These naked or street fighter machines DO NOT have the ergos of an RR bike. They have up bars, not clip ons, dropped pegs not tight rear sets,and a sloped tank not a walled tank saddle. A cruiser has you sitting ramrod straight and is much more abusive to the spine because of the straightness of your back and the very limited suspension. The thing to look at is the seating position in the street fighters I know the bike looks like it's leaning way forward it isn't though it is very akin to sitting on a dirt bike.

I love do-it-all bikes like this. Versatile midweight standard, upright riding position is likely to be comfortable, good engine size, slim and character-filled parallel twin, nice hp and torque figures, lowish seat height, fairly light, potentially nimble, doesn't use that much gas, doesn't cost that much, sharp and aggressive styling. Awesome!

Thanks for the info. I'll go try one on for size at the MC store.

I plan to trade in my Kawasaki for something that has an easier to pull clutch.

A solid cool from me. This bike hits most of right spots, though might be a bit small to use as a tourer, but still a nice looking machine, decent power/mileage/weight/price stats and best of all, no freaky transformer like headlight.....hell that is almost enough to put it into the Awesome category.

fugly and no good in the rain, but I like it. I'd have to try one out but the lady friend is not gonna like that seat. cool, but only just.
