Hey, I found this site and was in a LOT doing lots of reading pre-MSF course and after - in July. Everybody sounded SO friendly and there was SO much info I picked up surfing your forums and the site.

I'm totally new to motorcycling and picked up a used bike ('01 Kawa Ninja 250) 1 week after the course and have since then been riding as much as I can fit in between work & other commitments. It's something I have always wanted to do and it just wasn't getting done so I had to bite it and just DO IT! Besides, have to get the km in before it gets cold and snowy here at which time that'll be it til spring. But I guess there's always skiing in the interim....

Btw - for any "shorties" out there reading this (and that was definitely an issue with me in looking for a bike), I'm 5'2 amd 110 lbs and that Ninja fits. And I've done a stupie  and layed it down for a nap once already during a stop but thankfully it was in slo-mo cause I helped it down by holding the grips and there was no damage to either of us. And I didn't have a fit because the bike was used...new would have been a different story.

I just wanted to say hi to everybody and let you know I have been reading and learning so much from your Q & A in the forum and will definitely keep signing in to read and try to stay current. Thanks to those of you who post (because I got - and get! so much from your posts) and to those who set this site up and look after it. Really grateful because like I said, I'm new to this and don't know many people who ride.

Ta-ta for now!

Heya KarateChick!

A big fat :welcome: to the community! Thanks for joining us!

With an awesome 10 out of 10 introduction like that I'm sure you will make friends easily here. :D

I see you found some of the great things about the Total Motorcycle Community. Everyone, from members to moderators try to help everyone out the best they can. I'm very happy that you found it friendy and helpful to you.

You made a great choice on a first bike, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R is super first bike, and buying one used, perfect. And you also took the MSF course, hey, you get a gold star!

:star:

Like you said, I wouldn't worry about the drop , everyone drops their bike eventually. So no worries there. :D

Have fun and get as much riding in as you can because Alberta summers are short and the winters... well, let's not talk about winter yet... haha

:welcome:

Have fun and enjoy!

Mike

With only 8 posts in a month, she really must be getting in all the riding she can before winter set in ...,
But in Edmonton, I think that happens in the next week or two...

Congratulations on the nice bike and having a good start to riding.

May I ask what your inseam is? You're the same height as my GF and I am looking for bikes for her.

Sadly me thinks the winter comment is all too true...it has been a lousy summer for weather here. But it was verra verra nice in Toronto for about 3 weeks in Aug...

I believe my inseam is 30". With flat shoes, I toe the bike but I picked up some boots with 1.5 inch heels (boots are very comfy) so now I am flat footed and the bike fits well. I think the boots on their own added 1/2 inch overall on the non-heel part.
