Do you warm up the motorcycle or just turn the key and go?

The one carb'd bike we have left here, a 2003 Triumph Trophy, is extremely quick to come off choke- no more than 10 seconds. Everything else is fuel injected. By the time I put my helmet and gloves on, they're ready to go.

My current motorcycle definitely needs to warm up. It needs the choke on for a couple of minutes and then once the choke is off, it still needs a couple of more minutes before riding off.

I was wondering what everyone does regarding letting your bike warm up for a little bit or not.

I tend to turn on the engine and then put on my helmet and gloves. That way I know the oil has had a chance to circulate before riding.

I see several people at work who just turn the key and go. The bike has no chance to get the oil moving before riding away.

What do you do?

Is it bad for the bike to just turn the key and go? Am I wasting time and a small amount of fuel by letting it warm up for a bit?

it all depends on whether I am in a hurry somewhere. basically I warm up the bike.

I tend to need to start my GPZ500 (EX500) on the choke, but by the time I have my gloves on I can take it off and ride.

Everyone I talked to said about one minute of motorcycle warm-up is plenty of time to allow the piston and other parts to gradually expand and ensure good oil circulation to the upper end. In fact, most riders just start the engine and then spend a minute or two putting on their helmet and preparing to ride.

I do warm it up first since I only use my bike on weekends.

Now that I have an older bike with a carb instead of fuel injection, it needs to warm up or it is rough and misses.

I rev my bike for about 5 times and then I leave it running for a bit... maybe around 5-10 minutes.
