I can get an 2005 VN 1600D Nomad new for $12500 out the door . Also they have a 2004 VN 2000 ( the big one) for $13600 . I would need to add bags and windshield to it but it has the larger (heavier) motor. My final choice is a 2005 Vulcan 1600 for $9200. This also would need acessories to outfit it like the above Nomad, but I would have about a 3K difference to use. . Should I pick up the bare 1600 and rig it to a Nomad plus maybe a few other goodies for the price difference? Or would the 2004 2000cc model be a better choice to outfit? The weight does not bother me ,although I haven`t tested it yet. Any serious arguments against the 2004 big bore? I like the Nomads 2 tone colors best . The VN 2000 is purple and the 1600 is champagne. Any comments about the prices or choices will help. Sorry if this seems ana, I haven`t ridden in 10 years and I`m excited about riding again. I`ve decided on Kawasaki after many hours reading reviews and riding a few competitors. The prices are unbeliveable. I can get 2 for the price of a few other makes. Thomas

They are all great bikes, so you won't go wrong no matter what you choose. If it were me, given those three choices, I'd have to go with the Vulcan 2000. Those things are bad-arse! However, you sound like you want/need a bagger, and the Nomad kicks some pretty serious arse itself...so perhaps you should go with that, assuming the hard bags are your cup-of-tea. If not, the 1600 Classic adorned with some leather luggage and studded bibs would look nice. I haven't seen any of the accessories for the 2000, but maybe it can be done up nicely, too.

Of course, there's always the Mean Streak...
