White Helmet

#1 Unread post by Mag7C »

Ok I found a helmet that feels good. It's a nolan flip up. Expensive but comfy. I decided to go with it instead of the HJC 3/4 helmet so I have the option of the extra face protection.

Anyway, I like the white color but have a (probably unfounded) fear that if I wear a helmet that looks like the kind cops wear, people will drive even more stupidly around me. Like going way too slow and whatnot. Just wondering if anyone has thoughts on this.

I haven't bought it yet though, so I can always go with black. But white would be nice for customizing with bumper stickers. :D

I had a chrome helmet that looked a lot like old police helmets and never had a problem. If I saw a white helmet I wouldn't think twice about it honestly. Only problem I would see with a white helmet is bugs and dirt. You'll have to clean that thing all the time for it to stay looking clean.

I think that white is one of the colors more easily seen. I see that as a good thing!!

Stickers

Add some retroreflective stickers to it or, get a "helmet skinz" for it. You can find them in lots of catalogues, ebay, etc.

I haven't heard good things about putting stickers on helmets. The outer coating of the helmet is designed to slide nicely down the road, but stickers can cause friction with the road surface and can contribute to possible neck injury.

There are stupid drivers no matter what you wear. Bikers/riders have to be on the defensive at all cost. Buy the helmet and don't worry about what anyone thinks. If you like it, then that is all which should matter.

Mine is white. I read somewhere that white helmets are easier to see.

My next helmet will be white, for visibility and the heat.

And I'll add streetglo reflective markings.

I agree with you, it's unfounded, unless you're getting it in white to compliment your' big white BMW with blue and red lights all over it.
