Ah...ahh...CHOO!

#1 Unread post by FireFly800 »

I'm new to riding.

Now that that's out of the way I have a couple of questions...

When riding in the rain how do you keep your face shield, googles or whatever clear? From the outside and inside. I wear a flip-up type helmet right now.

And one more, what do you do if you have to sneeze while riding with (or without) a helmet?

Thanks in advance.

These things are brilliant for keeping the inside of your visor clear of mist:

A helmets visor is shaped so that when riding in the rain the water runs off it very quickly so after a while riding in the rain you never really notice it. My wife always gets irritated when I don't put the wipers on in the car, but I generally don't use them because I am so used to looking through the rain drops on my bike.

Sneezing is a fun one. If you are wearing a full face helmet, open the visor.

I use Rain X and Fog X and it seem s to work fairly well as well as leaving the screen open just a bit. As for sneezing just go ahead, not much else you can do.

i thought you werent supposed to use rainX and those types of things on plastic they are ment for glass only? while working at walmart i always had people asking about anti fog stuff for paintball helmet/visorys to keep fog off they all said rainX or any glass stuff found in the car section is bad for their plastic visors.

Have been there, done that - forgot to open the visor.

It's not a good thing!!

Best advice, DONT SNEEZE!! and if you reaaaaalllly gotta, pull over and take your helmet off!
Don't give up.

Not now, not soon, not after being continually knocked down.

If you never give up, you can never truly fail.

I heard Rain-X was bad for plastic too.

I've been using soap. Just rub a dry bar of soap on the inside of the shield, then buff it off like wax, no more fog.

Rain blows off the shield well enough on it's own. At a stop, use the side of your glove like a windshield wiper.

You need to test the rain x before you use it on plastice, as some plastice is doesnt work on like the paint ball visors and snowmobile visors.

when I sneeze, I do it so the air goes out the bottom of the helmet. Like when you want to look straight ahead but blow down.

A modular helmet is great for sneezing!
