Mert Lawwill was surely an influence on what style of racing I like.

Unfortunately here in Oz we don't have or get any coverage of it on TV.
One day I hope to go to Daytona & see, smell & hear this style of racing.

It's really cool to know this guy survived those times & is doing well, out of Motorcycling.

I sure get excited when I see a bike like this:

Gives me visions of grandeur....that I could actually go out & race something like this....Yeah Right, in my Dreams!

Still....it's a nice looking machine, I'd like to convert my Sportster into one like that!
You Americans sure have a lot of nice 'Gear' to choose from!

Anyone else like Flat Tracking?

(Thanks TechBMW)

The American magazine Motorcyclist Just did an article on him and his bikes (August 2005 Issue) ... If you'd like me to I can send it to you :)

The rear swingarm on that puppy is ace - It's actually got 2 swingarms that are joined by the rear shock ... cool stuff.

Price of entry pretty high though - $29,900. ($39,633 Aus) you could build something similar out of aftermarket bits and pieces for less (Though w/out that awesome swingarm) Course, guess you'd have to get those parts shipped from the states.

I like flat tracking. I read at least one old ad for my bike where they wrote "you feel like a flat tracker" as part of the sales pitch for the bike. You can definitely see the influence on my bike's geometry. I like to watch ice racing, too.

Well, I for one love it. If you are interested in doing a Sportster->Flattracker conversion, a California company called Storz Performance http://www.storzperf.com/offers kits.
