Sturgis opinions

#1 Unread post by cb360 »

Anyone ever been? Anyone ever been recently? I'd like to hear some Sturgis experiences.

I'd like to go sometime - I love motorcycle shows. But I'm not much of a partier - I've done my time in that scene - don't have a problem with it, just not into it myself. I've heard it gets pretty out of control. Would you reckon a boring person like myself avoid the scene altogether or is there stuff to do without spending all day in the bar? Is it possible to get a place to sleep at night and actually get any sleep? Thanks.

I've never been, but heard rooms should be reserved a year in advance. Sleeping space is obviously cheaper in outlying areas. If you are offended by nudity[female breasts, as in "show me your watermellons" ] it may not be for you/your wife if that type of thing offends. Weird looking dudes whose last shave, and possibly shower, may have been in 1979, lots of Harleyists, and some ordinary people trying to look bad. I hear they have product booths, too. Probably mostly Harley stuff. I'm sure some of the guys here have actually been there to see the spectacle.
Jay leno had a segment on his show last night about Sturgis.

I have no breast aversion... though my wife probably does. Not sure she'd make that trip with me or not. And I can handle the sight of a few showerless folks for a few days. Hell, I was in the Peace Corps in Africa. I didn't take a shower for two years! Not sure if Sturgis would be my cup of tea or not... but I do like looking at bikes - I figure it's worth one trip just to see what all the fuss is about.
