I got my license!

I am still going to take the MSF Basic Rider Course, but for the sake of convenience, I decided to just take the DMV skills test and get my Motorcycle endorsement so I can legally ride on freeways and at night since the bike is now my primary means of transportation. The test was no problem, and I passed with flying colors, in spite of the fact that the course was on a slope. (My DMV is on a hill)

For those who are considering getting your license this way, I highly recommend taking the MSF course, which in most or all states, and possibly Canada as well eliminates the DMV skills test requirement. (not sure about licensing requirements for the rest of the "rock".)

If you are going to take the skills test though, I recommend getting some parking lot practice in making slow circles and slow-speed weaving. Also going slow in a straight line.

So anyway, I'm official! 8)

In some states, the skills test grid is painted on some parking lot near the DMV office, so you can practice. It helps a lot.

I didn't see any parking lots in the vicinity with the course painted, but I did go to the DMV early to get some practice in. I live in a rural area, so there aren't many parking lots close by that are big enough for the course. Thanks for mentioning that though, John. Small town guys like me don't know that stuff. Practice makes perfect, right?

Way to go!!! I almost failed my test due to nervousness. The jitters rise when you're being watched. I'm a good rider, just reallly nervous before the test. I got a 70  My place had the dots on the ground. Wish i knew that before. Oh well  Congrats anyways . Be careful out there. The guys aren't joking about the bad drivers, as I'm sure you will find out. 8)

Cool Deal! I took the MSF Course after getting my permit. All I had to do was take my permit and the paperwork from the MSF course to the DMV to get my license. It's the way to go, very low stress.

Congratulations! It's nerve wracking, but a lifetime of riding is the payoff. I did mine last year and was glad I did.

Good job man. I forgot you didn't ride, you have such an air of motorcycle rider around you already. You're a natural man.

That didn't take long!
