Just have to call around and get prices. I use State Farm for all my vehicles and have been happy with them. Thier rates are based on CC size, therefore a Ninja 636 would be cheaper than an 1100 cruiser.

Trust me, the Ninja would definitely cost more. Anything that is considered a sport bike will automatically hike it up. I've done quotes with both(not these two bikes specific), and I could get a cruiser up to about 1500cc at half the price I could get it on a SV650. Definitely not even close when it comes to my SV1000 insurance.

I would think State Farm policy would be the same nation wide, although I'm sure rates would vary depending on location. I stand by the fact that State Farm rates go by CC size and not the bike. I also checked prices for various bikes and an SV650 was cheaper than a V Star 1100.

I have my house and cars with Allstate, so when I got my bike I just went with them. I later got something in the mail from Progresive, I think Honda Riders Clubs gave them my name. I got a quote from Progressive and for exactly the same coverage, Progressive was 50% less that Allsate. Well, I swithed to Progressive and increased my coverage a bit.
Progressive claims to be the largest motorcycle insurer. I guess just in the USA, not sure if they do business outside of the US. I have friends that have been with Progessive fora while and are happy with them.
They have a web site at
http://www.progressive.com where you can get an online quote.
