so im in my car today pulling out of my apartment complex. before i get near the side walk i always check for bikes and walkers/runners, didnt see anyone so i kept going. out of no where some kid(16 probally) on a full size scooter(not a small kid style one but a road ready probally honda scooter) came flying down the sidewalk. he jammed the brakes when he saw me, i didnt see him at first(theres a big wall limiting your view when coming out). he came within a foot or so of hitting my right front side. i did see him in time to stop before i crossed into the sidewalk, but since he jammed the brakes hard enough he almost front flipped he also turned towards me stupidly. i waved him through at that point i figure why not. so he goes and takes off full speed down the sidewalk again.

never seen anyone doing 30-40 on a side walk on a scooter before. we have bike lanes if hes that worried about being in traffic he should use the bike lane. would had sucked if he rammed into me, not sure how legally i could have been at fault, kid no license no eye protection riding a vehicle on the side walk speeding vs me pulling out of a blind parking lot(you have enough view to see a walker/runner but not a speeding moped) plus my front bumper wasnt in the sidewalk so...

dam scooter kids!

I didn't know you lived in Italy.

Oh except here they are allowed to operate a 50cc scooter on the street at age 14. Go Italy...

I get paid to ride on the footpaths going as fast as I possibly can. It is a great job but I definitely have to keep an eye out for kids, dogs and morons charging out of their driveways in cars.

There are no sidewalks where I live. So everyone walks and bicycles on the street too.

(And most streets are barely wide enough for two cars.) I say again ... Go Italy... !

If he had hit you and euthanized himself, no jury would convict you. Probably.

all it takes is one scooter rider like me on the jury.
Life without the possibility of parole.

Postie ?. hate dogs beside the road.. cost too much to repair the plastic when you hit them.. 2 dogs in the same year, insurance didn't believe me the 2nd time.

The new fad is 49cc 'choppers' that are running around the streets. Gotta wonder what happens when an SVU 'soccer mom' or a concrete cowboy runs one over cus they sit lower than the driver can see.
