Double Enduro World Championship celebration for @Husqvarna in #France
@Bel-Ray #Husqvarna Factory Racing team riders Mathias Bellino and Jamie McCanney ensured there was plenty for Husqvarna Motorcycles to celebrate at the final round of the 2015 Enduro World Championship in Requista, France as Bellino wrapped up the Enduro 3 world championship and McCanney secured the Enduro Junior title.
The action came thick and fast for Husqvarna with both Bellino and McCanney putting the finishing touches to their impressive seasons at the end of day one. Both entering the event with comfortable point advantages over their closest rivals, each rider remained focused on picking up the required points needed to earn their respective world titles.
Competing in front of his home crowd, a runner-up result at the end of day one was more than enough to secure the Enduro 3 World Championship title for Bellino. Battling with his closest championship rival Matt Phillips throughout the day, Bellino placed just 15 seconds from the top of the podium. More importantly he claimed the Enduro 3 title. On day two Bellino delivered his eighth day win of the series to bring his world championship participation to a fitting end.
For Jamie McCanney the closing round of the 2015 Enduro World Championship was a challenging one, yet with a hugely positive outcome. Once again suffering with a painful sinus infection – a condition that has effected the Manxman one more than one occasion during the season – Jamie battled his way through the day to place fourth and with it he secured the Enduro Junior world title.
Danny McCanney did all he could to end his first year of senior class competition in third position in the Enduro 1 championship standings. Struggling with a knee injury Danny fell just short of his goal following a weekend-long battle with Spain’s Lorenzo Santolino.
Husqvarna supported rider Josep Garcia rounded out his 2015 season as runner-up in the 125cc Youth Cup class while Jane Daniels also ended the year as runner-up, in the Enduro Women’s class.
Mathias Bellino: “It’s been an amazing weekend – the perfect end to what has been an amazing season. From being injured last year, then deciding to switch to a two-stroke, and now winning the Enduro 3 world title at the end of what’s been a great year, it’s just amazing. I had a good lead in the championship coming into this race, but the bad weather on day one made things a little challenging for me. I didn't feel any pressure, but second was the best I could do. The most important thing was winning the title. On day two I was able to end the championship with a win, just like I started it. It’s been a great year and this title is for everyone in the team that has supported me.”
Jamie McCanney: “It’s a great feeling to have won the Enduro Junior title. I knew I didn't have to win either day in France but I wanted to end the season with the best results I could. I struggled with a sinus infection. It’s something that’s been a problem throughout the season, and I’ll have an operation soon, which will hopefully fix it. I basically did what I needed to do. The conditions were a little mixed with the rain we had on the first day, but my focus was not to make any mistakes and get the points I needed to secure the title. I have to say a huge thanks to all the team, they’ve been incredible this season. I decided not to race on day two because of my sinus infection.”
Danny McCanney: “It was a tough weekend. I’ve ridden injured since the GP of Italy so to finally get to the end of the season is a relief. We made the decision to race here in the hope that I could get third in the E1 championship, but I wasn’t quite able to do that. Day one didn't start well, but I managed to get a bit closer to the top of the class as the day went on. I had a much better start on day two but hit a tree in one of the tests and lost a lot of time.”
