WHAT ARE THE 2016 RESULTS?
This is how the voting has turned out for all models that appeared on the Total Motorcycle Cool Wall in 2016.


HOW ARE THESE FINAL RESULTS DETERMINED?
The final Total Motorcycle Cool Wall cool factor results are determined by public vote, debate and review in the Total Motorcycle Cool Wall forum. To determine the fate of a model up for placement on the TMW Motorcycle Cool Wall just vote, debate and participate in the discussion.

Here's how we are improving our math. Every time you vote Awesome you are giving the bike 3 points. Cool gives 2 points, Uncool gives 1, and Fail gives zero. At the end of the voting week we will mulitply the number of votes in each category by the points for that category and then derive an average voting number, out of 3, for that bike. Finally, we will then normalize this average voting number against the maximum possible of 3 to give the bike a standing from 0 to 100. (Zero would mean 100% Fail votes while 100 would mean 100% Awesome votes.)

The standardization of all bikes to a scale of 0 to 100 will now give the opportunity to rank the entire year's list of bikes for the year. And best of all, it allows each and every vote to have meaning to the tally.

Here's an example:
Awesome: 8 votes x 3 points = 24 points
Cool: 12 votes x 2 points = 24 points
Uncool: 3 votes x 1 point = 3 points
Fail: 2 votes x 0 points = 0 points
Sum total: 51 points
Total number of votes: 25
Average points per vote: 51/25 = 2.04
Standardized to a maximum of 3 points: 2.04/3 x 100 = 68
...Therefore, this bike ranks a Coolwall Factor of 68!

Yeah, we know, the math looks a bit complicated, so if you don't care to figure it out then just remember - EVERY VOTE COUNTS - so get voting!

But the Bulldog concept is both good, weird, odd, works and is broken all at the same time! If anything, the Bulldog shows us all that there is no limit to what future motorcycle design could hold. Notes: Is it a cruiser? Is it a monster? Is it both? The new XDiavel has so many facets, both good, bad and the ugly, that there are parts that will appeal to some, none or many. It's sorta the Christmas Fruit Cake of bikes, you'll like something in it, but it may not be your first choice of dessert. (Did I just call a bike a Christmas fruit cake...well, that's a first! lol).

Notes: Value. The new Harley-Davidson value leader. Now that's not something you hear (or associate) with the big H-D. At $16699 USD/$19499 CAD the 2016 Harley-Davidson Low Rider S is not peanuts or cheap, but representative to their other models, amazingly, it is for what it offers. And it's that sweet Screamin’ Eagle® Twin Cam 110™ engine that makes it so. Can a rider buy a bike that offers more value than the 2016 Harley-Davidson Low Rider S from a competitor? Definitely. But if you are looking for the best bang for your buck H-D, you found it.

Notes: After 40 years BMW has decided to re-introduce a small motorcycle to the market. Whether it was market insight, competition or the slowing economy it offers what riders want, choice. And I have to applaud BMW for offering choice in the small engine size end rather than just another "mid/large" sized bike. New riders will really benefit from that decision and bring younger stock into the BMW pen. Thinking about this, this is what Harley-Davidson is doing as well with their Street 500/750 models and in a small way, Indian with their Scout. It will be interesting to see how this trend evolves...

Notes: It is interesting to see how marketing hype can either be boost a or a backfire. Back on our 2014 Cool Wall the 2015 Indian Scout finished #3 of the year at 85.4% cool. In 2016, the "same" bike made by Victory finished 57.3% cool. A swing of almost 30% is huge and why was that? Victory really put a lot of hype behind the Project 156 bike getting riders uber excited about it's launch. What we got was a better bike than the Indian Scout, but not at all what riders wanted. Maybe Project 157 will be what we all wanted.

Final Thoughts: Our moderator JackoftheGreen sums this up nicely: "The official 2-Up touring bike of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and more fun than a ping pong table." This is one bike that will confuse the heck out of the grandpa's but delight those young-whipper-snapers. At 6'4" I have to take a #selfie with it! Honda Grom's a good seller, now Kawasaki has one up on it. Pricing TBA, which could change things (good/bad).
