New forum header/logo design

#1 Unread post by totalmotorcycle »

Good day everyone!

I thought I would update the forum logo and header design for a cleaner, fresher look. It is also shorter in total height which allows the pages to move up on your screens that much more as well.

I hope you enjoy!

New Design: (or what it looks like on my screen res)

Old Design: (or what it looks like on my screen res)

...as always, if you have any suggestions just let me know. :)

I liked seeing the picture.

Now the thing that catches my eye the most is the huge ad.

The Total Motorcycle is so small that I barely notice it.

Explore Twitter calls out to me...Canadian Black Book calls out to me....

I'm always open to design suggestions. I really did like the photo up there as well, but felt when I added the top ad it might have took too much top room and the page loaded further down.

With a 33% drop in revenue thanks to the economy and a x2 bandwidth increase since Sept/15, it's been rough and I didn't have much choice but to throw an ad up, somewhere. The other choice of ad sizes I had was a skyscraper or a 300x250 box, thus the leaderboard ad it the less intrusive of them all...

Once the economy/revenue starts to normalize, I'll be more than happy to remove the extra ads.

Open to suggestions. :)

The ads themselves are not the problem. They are just so darn big.
There is a lot of white space between the black line above notifications and the blue line above Board Index.

Could that white space be smaller?

Oh good, I was very concerned about that ad and glad that's not the main issue. For the "There is a lot of white space between the black line above notifications and the blue line above Board Index. " do you mean where I put the green lines you want closed up or?

Ultimately it doesn't matter. What I was trying to say is that my eyes are drawn to the ad....it is big and there is so much white space around it that the Total Motorcycle goes un-noticed.

That makes sense. I'm watching how it performs, if it performs well, then I can move it up to a less-noticeable location where the old "motorcycle photos" used to be. :)
