Need help - engine dies after a couple of minutes

Hi,

Please excuse my complete lack of knowledge here. I'm just a beginner.

I have bought my first bike in the past few days but have been having issues with it. When I first start it up (with the choke fully on) it initially idles at very low revs. I know that a bike starting cold should be given a few minutes to warm up so that is what I try to do. But I find that it only idles for around 2 minutes before it cuts out entirely. During this 2 minutes the revs do not seem to increase at all. The bike just abruptly cuts out.

Is there something that I'm doing wrong here or does this sound symptomatic of a specific mechanical problem?

I'm appreciative of any help that any of you could give me.

Thanks

Not much info to go on.
Some chokes are nice and rich for the start but are too rich for the warmup and so the engine dies.
Chokes are not always on/off controls. Some need to be adjusted as the engine warms up.
This is my best guess based on almost no information.

I agree with GS, with nothing else to go on all I can say is that you made need to gradually open the choke during the warm-up. It should be proportional with a full range you can adjust through.
