I am currently living in the US Virgin Islands and am planning to move to the Philippines within a year. I would like to buy a new or used Japanese Dual Sport bike, probably a 250cc. I will be using it about 90% road and 10% off road. Thanks for any and all advice on which machine to buy.

If it's used but in good condition, any Japanese bike is gonna work fine.

Honda XR250... will need some extras to make it street legal (tires, light kit). They have a 650 that comes street legal though
Suzu, it's a 400, but there's also a 200 version

Personally, i'd go with the Honda and add the lights. XR is Honda's enduro bike as TTR is Yamaha's. So a TTR with a light kit and street tires would be legal too.

The KLR's are good, too. People go around the world on them.

Don't forget the BMW GS 650. It has great capabilities, can be very gentle and very versatile. If you pick up a pre owned and need to sell it later you will probably get most of your money back. They are also tough as H@#l
