I don't know if this is the right forum, but how do attach my radar detector to my bike. i was thinking to splice the wires and hook it straight to the battery and fuse it but i don't know if it will blow?

Well, you could go see what sort of set up youd have to do if you were hooking up a cigarette lighter to your bike, (look on the package at your local Crappy Tire) see where they recomned the thing to be hooked up too, then do the same with your detector, although it may be too much juice, as i think they usually need a DC converter dont you... Lucky you live in Alta, where they are legal. thats alot of juice for those thing coming off your battery.

Wire in a Cigarette lighter socket through a switch tapped into switched power (you should be able to find the right wires coming out of your ignition switch - just check out the wiring diagram in your haynes/clymer manual)

You can also wire the socket in directly, but having the switch allows you to turn off power to the socket.

make sure that you have a fuse somewhere between where you have tapped in to the wiring and the radar detector - 2amp fuse max. Most radar detector power plugs have a 2amp fuse in the plug itself, accessible by unscrewing the endcap.

By putting in a cigarette/accessory socket you avoid having to play with the tiny wires that are in the power cord, and you can easily switch the detector between vehicles.
