EMGO filters

I came across a good deal for EMGO filters for xs400's while they do look sweet and the price is suspiciously low, I wonder if there are any similar horrors as Tech posted about K&N filters.
Reviews say these meet and exceed OEM standards... but then again... All I want to know is if these are paper filters or if they are something similar to KN or Uni where you need to add oil to the filter element etc.
Anyone ever use these on their bike before??

Emglo has been making some foam pod-type filters for a little while now, but I have no idea how good they are.
Emglo started out as a cheap aftermarket parts maker years ago. They have been improving thier products and really trying to upscale thier image the past couple of years, they even sponsor a race team this year.
They are definately a coming player in the field. They used to be a joke. Not anymore.
But that don't help much with your question about thier filters. Sorry.

Are they Pod type filters or OEM type?

from the pic, looks like they are pod type filters. However I dont think they will fit without some additional attachment. note the difference between OEM and this one...

So I decided to go with the EMGO air filters, since the dealer said they recommend it. However, if you look at the previous post... i.e. pix of both filters... How the heck do you mount the EMGO filter? its got the clamp on the filter side... but the clamp is already on the hose side. The OEM airfilter only has a metal tube to slip the hose onto and then clamp it.
Ideas?

If I am understanding this right, your stock setup has a tube coming off the carb that slips over the flange on the airfilter.
The pods would have to be the right size to so that the tube from the carb slips inside the pod filter flange.

zat is correct!! or if that doesnt work, I'll have to use a metal pipe that links the two together.

Oh... another possibility is to get rid of the stock airbox completely and attach the EMGO filters directly to the carb intakes.
a) is this OK???
b) what can be done with the crankcase breather hose that is fed into the airbox?? leave it hangin?
I guess this'll free up tons of space behind the side covers for tools, emergency replacement stuff etc
