I have a Suzuki 250, which I have had for 11 years. I ride the hell out of it. I have put off a rebuild for 5 years.
It really needs it now, I'm not a mechanic. The shop says it may be $1200 to rebuild. a New bike is around $8000
Wife wants me to get rid of it, since I had a minor accident last month.
I am older than some, the kids are all grown. I enjoy riding. Job situation is iffy. Wife is worried.
What should I do?
rebuild bike, buy new, discard and get a cage

Time for a new wife??? Just kidding. The questions you're asking can only be answered by one person, you. Someone may say fix your bike, someone else might suggest it's time for a new one, then again, there's the, "Happy wife, happy life." issue. Write a list of pros and cons, have a serious sit down with the wife... You need to look at all of your options and make your decision.

Another bike - used, not new. Wide range of prices, ages and condition available.

I agree with GS. Around here (New Jersey), Kelly Blue Book says a 2005 GZ250 in excellent shape is worth $1400. Sinking $1200 into a $1400 bike doesn't seem like a good use of your money.GS_in_CO wrote:Another bike - used, not new. Wide range of prices, ages and condition available.
If you want to avoid the Craigslist weirdos, find a motorcycle dealership and talk to the salespeople about what you're looking for. Dealerships near me have so many used bikes they've taken in trade that they don't even put them all out on the sales floor.
