I've riden the 250 and frankly although it has light weight it's a bit under powered for a bike of this type. When both my friend and I were on it, it bogged down pretty bad. On the plus side it gets pretty good gas mileage. i weigh 140 lbs so it wasn't to bad with me on it, but he weighs about 195 and i can almost beat him on my Rebel and Rebels aren't known for their blinding speed. I personally would go with the 400 (although I haven't riden one). The extra horses would more then make up for the short comings of the 250. Any time you get a bike however it's a personal choice. Don't know what you weigh or your inseam so not sure what the comfort level would be for you. If you want economy the ninga wins. If you want a bit more power the suzuki is the better choice.

you could try the ninja 500. MY vulcan has the same engine and it rocks!!! The ninja is geared differently for that sport feel. But it will not get out of hand without you knowing it. Like scott said-Its up to you. Pic the bike that fits you and is cmfortable. Happy shopping.

Are you a new rider? If so, a 900 would be a handful to learn everything on. The ninja 250 is a great bike, and will handle great for you. You can always sell it. How often would you go two-up? Just a thought.

Have you thought of a Kawasaki EX500. I rode one that belonged to a friend and it was a great bike. To boot there are so may parts available for it it's nut's. When his did break down he went to EBAY and voila, everything he needed + was there. Repairing a bike can be expensive, do some reaserch first before you buy.

Not really but it depends on 1 main factor. How much do you weigh? 140lbs will get out of the way faster then 220lbs. On the other hand, how much do you think you can handle? My RD-400 would yank the handle bars out of you hands if you weren't paying attention. You may want to consider just getting something to learn on and stay away from serious performance until you have a few miles under your belt. To much to soon is often times not a good thing. Oh, and 2 up means 2 people on the bike at the same time.

...if you are looking for a hella fast small sport bike..pick up a nice little Aprilia 250 2-stroke...sounds small...i've seen one in action...they are scary fast....maybe look into the ninja 500r, GS 500, Beemer CS650 or the suzuki SV-650...all pretty good begginer bikes from what i've heard and plenty fast for ya.
