Victory riders, input wanted!

#1 Unread post by BikesnBeer »

I have never knowingly seen or heard a Victory bike running and was just wondering how they sounded. Do they sound like an American-made bike ala muscle-car or like a ricer?

I know they have the power, I was just curious about the sound.

I imagine it sounds just like any other V-Twin.

and what, exactly, does a 'ricer' sound like?

Kind of a high-pitched whiney noise....I was just curious if they had the deep rumble.

Interesting. My Kawasaki makes a rather nice thumping sound. Could be because it's a 650cc single.

A friend's Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom purrs like a cat. It's a V-Twin.

Another friend has a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic. Rumbles nicely, just like most every other V-Twin cruiser I've heard.

My co-worker's '69 Panhead makes a really annoying potato-potato sound until he pulls in the clutch, then it makes what sounds like a death rattle.

I imagine that the Victory bikes have a nice, deep throated rumble, nicely muffled by the exhaust pipes in order to avoid rattling windows and annoying the heck out of everyone around (unlike some other American assembled bikes I won't name)

Your best bet would be to go to your local Victory dealer and see if they will fire one up so you can hear what it sounds like.

I'm not too worried about annoying people since I live in the middle of nowhere on 15 acres. I do have a harley now that makes a hell of a lot of noise, but I like it.

I want something different and saw that Victory makes very nice, high performance cruisers, I want to know if I would be trading in that rumble.

I guess going to the dealer would be my best bet unless someone here has experience with these types of bikes.

Not only will your Victory dealer let you hear one, if you have a valid mc operators lecense, he'll let you test ride.

You'll be hooked!

The Victorys rumble might be even deeper as its a bigger engine. Still definately going to be a V-Twin rumble like your harley. The sound you describe as "ricey" is the inline four engines common to Japanese sport bikes. Each type of engine has its own distinct sound. Most V-twins sound a lot like your harley, most inline 4s on sport bikes sound like an AMA superbike, or indy car. Other engine styles sound even different than this, triples have a very distictive sound that is almost like an exotic sports car, singles make a thump thump noise, 2 strokes sound like weed eaters, and V4s sound like a muscle car.

The 6-into-6 setups for the Valkyrie sound like a Nascar.
