Catalytic Converter

I have a 2010 Yamaha v star 650 classic that I bought used and I need to know if the bikes had catalytic converters that year.
What years came with the converters?

Apparently different areas got the catalytic converter model in different years. You'd think it would be easy to find an authoritative reference on the internet, but I searched for awhile in vain. If you compare pictures of an earlier V Star 650 and a later one, you'll notice the pipes with the cat converter are 2-3 inches longer.

I guess you'll have to ask the service people at a Yamaha dealership to be really sure.
