Headlight & Turn Signal Mounts for 81 CB650

#1 Unread post by RelytJJ »

For my first bike I purchased a 1981 Honda CB650 Custom. I love the thing, I believe I made a good decision on my first bike though I already want something a little more modern. Anyways, when I purchased the bike it was setup as a touring bike. Front fairing (windjammer) and rear luggage racks and cases on the side. I've since removed all of the storage and fairings from the bike. The problem is that the fairing contained the headlight and turn signals in it. I removed the headlight and the bulbs from the turn signals, removed the extended wiring harness for the fairing and jerry rigged the headlight and turn signals on the bike. I have the headlight and turns signals mounted with some aluminum bracketry from Home Depot I picked up for under 15 bucks. It's pretty ghetto, but is street legal and safe for night time riding.

My question is where can I find mounts for headlights or turn signals? I have found plenty of aftermarket turn signals and headlights but no clean solution to mounting them to the forks. I also haven't had any luck finding OEM parts from any other 80-83 Honda bikes.

Any help would be appreciated. The bike looks good for being an 81 and I hate to keep that crappy bracketry mounts for the lights on it.

Is there a motorcycle junk yard any wheres where you live? That would be a good place to look. Sometimes car dealers have old bikes. I hope you can find the parts you need.

I think that's what I might have to do. I know there are a few junkyards around here but I've never heard of any motorcycle specific junkyards.

You could try ebay. Or there are universal headlight brackets out there.
