Help me with a decision

#1 Unread post by Brent »

I want to get a cruiser of 800cc or less. I won't be doing a lot of freeway driving but some mostly by myself. Consider chain vs belt vs shaft drive. Also some have fuel injection while others have carbs. I am a small person and am about 5'8" and weigh 150. I would be considered to be new as I need to take the classes as it has been too many yrs since riding. I would prefer NOT to have floorboards. Given these things and others you folks might know of. What should I consider?

V-Star 650 is a fine bike much like the C-50 it got great ergos and a super fit and finish. The Star classic has the retro fenders and floorboards, the Star custom has the bobbed fenders with footpegs...

The C-50 has floorboards and I believe it's the M-50 that has pegs...

I'm partial to the v-star, myself. They are so comfy. I could sit on one all day. Can't say too much about the C50 or M50. I really like the look of the M50 though.

Does anyone not like the Suzuki S50 or S40? Or how about the Kawa Vulcan 800 Classic? Does the chain rule it out? I know the S40 has a belt..

Love the S50, not crazy about the 650cc single in the S40.

I don't consider it a good value for the money. There are much better bikes on the market now at that price point.

I had an 03 Suzuki Volusia 800cc, shaft driven, air cooled, carburator. I put a mustang seat, forward controls and bars and it was the most comfortable bike I ever rode. Not a big powerhouse, but got to 110 with alittle balls behind the rider. I think I paid around 6500 brand new.

I like th S50 ok but I don't care for the handlebars. Maybe more like the ones on the Intruder in 2004?
