well i applied back on 7/15/05 4 interviews/tours and 2 months later i almost have a job with ups. the interview/tours all lasted a few hours each, after interview 2 they said i was in fact hired, but had to wait for my background screening to clear and they would go from there. they seem to 'hire' a pool of people then as needed put them to work, it can take days it can take months i guess between being hired and actually working/making money.

i hope its been worth the wait, shesh. anyone else ever go through a long hiring process such as this? or work for ups at the moment?

try going through all that stuff with different companies and see the look on their faces when they find out you spent a little time in the chain gang.

Just kidding, but UPS is currently suing the Canadian post office and gov't. They say that we, (I work at the post office) are doing their work. Well I beg to differ, where was UPS in the 1800's when Canada post was delivering parcels??? I would have to say they are doing my work...

Yes, getting a job with the post office was much like that. I'm one of the lucky ones... I went from application, through the interview process and was hired as a casual all within three months. Casual to part time was a little over eight months and another six to full time. There are people that have been working as casuals, on a call in basis for over 10 years. These people will unlikely ever get the call for full or part time work...

lol i never said i like ups, im already not liking them. they do Everything online. which i thought was great, but when it came time that i had a question and needed to talk to someone on the phone it was inpossible. no numbers to call the supervisor at the ups facility no contact information online at all. i filled out all my tax info direct deposit info online but couldnt contact someone with questions.

in the us from what i herd is next to impossible to get a job at the post office. my brother inlaw came out of the army(15 years) hoping to get right into the PO as he was into communications in the army and they(army) said he would be first pick to get the job. he tried for years and couldnt get in the door. but when i got to the post office here and see the people they hire its like 'wow'. the people they hire are the worst people you can imagine trying to do bussiness with. either they just act like they hate you, or dont speak enough english to help you. or act like your not there. i hate the post office.

It sounds like Canada Post hires it's management team from there...

On the most part, us employees are a good and helpful bunch, and as yet haven't had a case of, "Going Postal" in Canada.

down here the post office employees act like it is a sharp pain in their arse when you walk through the door.if you ask a question take an interpreter with you so you can find out what the answer is if you even get one.

I hear its a fantastic job if you can get on with them. The pay is really stellar. The only problem I know about is that you are out until you finish your route if you deliver. Sometimes its from 7am to 8pm or longer.

Our post office Employees are more like salesman...oh you dont wanna use that you wanna use this its only $3.16 more...

As far as the USPS is concerned they would'nt be in business unless govt subsidized. Typical worn-out ex-military slacker types working on their second or third retirements. They make so much money that they don't even need customer satisfaction. They move so slow at the counter they would be history in any other customer-service based vocation. As far as the postal delivery people- I've had many sensitive, fragile documents of an important or personal nature wadded up, twisted and crammed into the mailboxes at every location I've ever lived. I still have to be nice to the SOB's since I'm afraid I won't get my mail otherwise. I once had words with one delivery guy, called and complained and my mail was practically shredded for the next two weeks.
