Parts are fairly easy to come by. I dare say that vintage beemers are probably the easiest to work on due to parts availability. With few exceptions I could open a vintage beemer parts catalogue right now and build a brand new bike out of spare parts.

Downside. Parts are not cheap, but they aren't killer expensive either.

The r75/5 is a great bike with a strong following and there is plenty of help out there to wrench on it yourself. Depending on the work it needs, 800 seems like a deal, especially since I'm looking for a cafe project myself

Good thing for your friend I am in Italy
