I own an 04 FZ6 and just wondering if any of you own or have owned one and what do you think. Personaly I love it. Except for heavy clunking when shifting in the low range

I don't own one, but I was considering one as possibly my next bike in the far future. Very sleek looking bike! How's the riding position? From the pics it looks fairly upright which would be nice since I'm 6'.

The more upright position makes for a very comfortable ride and the small fairing does an amazing job.

im in the same boat. ive been to a kawasaki dealer abd sat on a Z750S which felt very similar to the yamaha FZ6. i just think the FZ6 is a bit sharper looking IMO.
Kawasaki Z750S:
Yamaha FZ6:
i too chose these 2 bikes becasue of their seating position. im looking forward to picking one up hopefully next year but around here in NY its very very very very hard to find one used. bummer.

I Love the FZ6!
I have been researching it and looking at all the comparisons in it's class for a few weeks now... I;m pretty set on getting one late next year..
IMO, it looks better than any of the others in it's class, especially w/ the under-seat exhaust... I went and looked at the suzuki sv650, which has a great reputation, and i like the ergonomics of the fz6 much better. That's one sweet ride.. anyone who has one, please give us some more details...

i went to suzuki over here and sat on an sv650 as well. it was a little too naked looking for my tastes (although comfortable) and the sv650s which had the lower bars and to me it was way too uncomfortable. what i really wanted to sit on was a vstrom 650 but the guy working there said they are very hard to come by. ill find one at another dealer hopefully.
might as well post a pic b4 i hit the sack

I have my FZ6 for about 3 months – it’s a '05 model and have a little more then 3000 miles on it.
I bought this bike because it was the only one that satisfied all the conditions that I laid out while researching:
- price around $6K
- liquid cooled
- fuel injected
- large fuel tank (5.2)
- dual front disk breaks and rear disk break
- upright sitting position
- 4-in-line (less vibration)
- wide rear tire (180 mm)
The bike feels very stable on the road. When I ride my son's GS-450 over Verrazano bridge on a windy day - it scares the hell out of me. My bike under strong wind behaves like it has all 4 wheels.
The maximum speed people report is somewhat 150 mph, I've had it up to 117 mph and chickened, there was plenty of power left. It does have a lot of power. When I ride it hard switching from 1st to the 2nd shift I feel that front wheel gets light and might go up easily. Also the bike handles well. During break exercise (MFS experienced course) I squeezed the front break so hard that accidentally had a front wheelie performed. I did not get scared, was in control - released the break and had it back on both wheels. The instructor said - 'hey you have too much fun with your bike', that was true.
The longest trip I’ve had so far was 450-mile ride around Pennsylvania country and mountain roads. Left home at 1:00 pm, got back at 11:00 pm, was not really tired, could get another 200 miles or so ridden that day.
The gas mileage is pretty good – around 50 mpg.
The only one thing I do not like on my bike – the mirrors. They are too small or should be located further out. Well, everyone is saying – no sport bike will have the mirrors as GS-450, live with it… and I do.
There is a known issue with ’04 model – TPS (throttle position sensor) stalls the bike. It does not affect all the bikes and so far no ’05 FZ6 was reported to have it.
If you have some specific questions – feel free to ask, I’ll try to answer.

Awesome... I keep hearing good stuff about the bike... Hopefully next year, my financial situation will let me grab one up... sounds like I should shoot for the '05 model...
Have you had any problems regarding the fuel injection system? That's the only negative thing I've read about them in reviews/....
