Katana petcock?

#1 Unread post by eugeart »

Seems silly but my '93 katana's petcock switch has no position markings on it. I have no idea where reserve is. Pointed towards the rear of the bike I assume is off, which leaves down and forward. Which position is what?
So far I haven't run it down to get sputter that I know is no fuel. What I thought was reserve point might have been an intermittent low idle/stalling problem that I've since fixed (fingers crossed). If some one would let me know what positions are what it might save me some grief. Thanks.
The only time I feel any real catharsis is on a MOTORCYCLE!

Does your fuel stick look like this one? This is from an RF600, but is it possible that they are the same??

I got it from an online manual at:

im pretty sure all katana models/years have the same petcock setup, i can be wrong. But if they do then down is On, Back is Prime, Forward is Reserve. there is no Off, its a vacuum system so you just leave it to On and your fine. dont put it on prime or youll have problems.
