ok so as some of you may remember i bypassed my ignition column with a plain switch...so since ive not been needing the key except for fillups(locking gas cap)...i havent been carrying it with me...so somewhere between my last fillup and now...i cant seem to find it...can a lock smith whip me up a key? will yamaha still have a design pattern for the key(1982)? any suggestions? is it easy to remove the gas cap and affix another one?
in the mean time im going to keep searching.

Smooth move!
I'd try using other keys and see if anything works. I can open the gas door on my bike with almost any key. The key for my Saab will open my friends Plymouth. You might be surprised to find your garage door key opens it, or your car key, or the padlock on the shed.

A sense of security back. Now I'm afraid some jerkwad is going to steal all 3 gallons of gas from my poor Yamaha, armed with nothing but a Leatherman!
