Tried to Steal my Bike: Jammed ignition

Someone tried to steal my 83 Nighthawk (CB550SC) last night by jamming a screwdriver into the ignition. I just bought the bike a few weekd ago and I am a new rider.
The key ignition is now screwed up, and the key wont turn to start the bike. Since the bike is older, I wonder what the most cost effective way to fix this problem. I am on a budget.
Any suggestions?
sorry....

Wow, guess my "no one will want my old '82 Nighthawk 750" theory wasn't that good when I had it. Sorry to hear about it.
The only place besides a dealer I could think of would be getting a ignition off a junk yard bike. Could probably get one cheap that way. You might want to call your local locksmith or take it up there, to see if there's anything they can do to help.

Most cost effective is to get any switch that uses a key and rewire it. I did this with my old bike because it actually could be turned on with a screwdriver.
Sorry about your bike, that sucks. At least they didn't get it.

you should be able to order an aftermarket ignition switch through the dealer - guaranteed to fit your bike and will be cheaper than trying to get an OEM switch.
Only drawback is if your gascap is a locking type that uses the ignition key - you'll either have to try to get it re-keyed or carry two different keys.

next time this happens...

SHOOT THE F*&$ER!!!!!
Sorry about the attempted thevory. My freind just had his bike stolen too.
As far as parts, Just buy a new key switch and put it on yourself. The keyswitches are easy to replace. (ive done it for freinds)
