Riding to work and clothing

I am a design student doing research for a project. I just have a few open ended questions I would love to get some answers to. I'd appreciate responses from anybody, any bike, to get a broad spectrum of data. Please send your responses to me via email. I don't want to impose on the bandwidth of this forum.

1) Do you ride to work? Why or why not?

2) What do you ride?

3) What do you typically wear when riding and why? Does this have any impact on whether or not you ride to work?

Thanks so much for your time and help. I also ride, mostly scooters, but I've spent some time on real motorcycles too. This project is my undergraduate thesis and I am planning to develop some new safety gear.

I don't ride to school or work on a regular basis because of rain. I haven't found a rainsuit I like, within my price range. Plus, I'd have to drop even more money on bags for my stuff. I take my laptop, folders and books to class every day. It rains almost every day here in Florida, and I don't have the money to drop on decent luggage to keep my laptop and books dry, not to mention the money for a rainsuit.

I ride a GV250 and a KZ650 (a cruiser and a standard).

When I ride, I wear my fullface, a mesh jacket, jeans, gloves, and boots. I really don't care to show up to class sweaty every day either... I might start riding to school during the winter, if it doesn't rain too often.

I've driven my car maybe 3 times this summer. I am either on my Suzuki S50 or Honda Rebel. I wear whatever I'm wearing to work that day.The fact that I'm riding has nothing to do with it.

1) Do you ride to work? Why or why not?

I ride to work everyday rain or shine. I love to ride plus nowadays the gas mileage is great

2) What do you ride?

Suzuki C50 Limited

3) What do you typically wear when riding and why? Does this have any impact on whether or not you ride to work?

Full face helmet, Leather jacket and gloves, jeans with chaps, boots. No impact on working since I just change in my office.

I ride everyday to everyplace. No other vehicle. You just have to wear the right gear to get by when it comes to rain and such. I wear the leathers if it's not raining.

1) Do you ride to work? Why or why not?

yep, 3-5 days a week. I normally hitch a ride with my gf if its raining. I ride to work because my Grand Cherokee eats gas, and because i'd rather be on a bike.

2) What do you ride?
84 Honda cb650sc Nighthawk, or Suzuki GS550 or 76 Vespa Rally 200

3) What do you typically wear when riding and why? Does this have any impact on whether or not you ride to work?

full face helmet, jacket with armor, full finger gloves, sometimes kneepads if i'm not being lazy, jeans. I wont ride with anything less.

3) What do you typically wear when riding and why? Does this have any impact on whether or not you ride to work?
Joe Rocket Alter Ego 2 piece suit w/FF helmet, and boots. No impact of me riding to work.

I ride to work because it's fun! If I have to commute, I might as well get in a nice ride too. I don't ride to work if it's raining as I haven't invested in good rain gear either, and because I'm a high school teacher. It's dangerous enough in a parking lot full of teens anxious to leave school. Toss in rain, and I become even more afraid. :D

Clothes aren't much of an issue unless its a rare day I have to dress up. Then I'll take the car. There have been days in TX where the afternoons are a bit hot and I may opt for air conditioning. I always ride with helmet (most of the time a full face), jeans, boots, and gloves. A good deal of the time I'll have on a mesh jacket but I'm not nearly as good about that as I should be.

I rode my V-Star last year, this year it's been all Rebel. Partly because it's my favorite bike, and the rest is the great gas mileage.

Good luck with your thesis.

1) Do you ride to work? Why or why not?

Yes. Because it's fun and my commute only burns about a gallon a week.

2) What do you ride?

'93 Honda CB750

3) What do you typically wear when riding and why? Does this have any impact on whether or not you ride to work?

My work clothes. Usually jeans, polo shirt, sneaks and a helmet of course. No impact whatsoever (unless I start going to work in shorts).
