Wait, wha...?

#1 Unread post by Shnailpower »

Ok, i was reading a post by some fourteen year old kid, ("Another Noob") an' he was saying that you could still ride a bike if it was 250 cc or below even if you were underage, is this true? 'Cause im thirteen and that sounds amazing, i've never seen anybody below 16 on a motorcycle on the street. I live in northern california, so does anybody know about any laws regarding underage motorcycle riding? thanx

I am so glad kids your age are not allowed on the road. It takes a while to develop road sense and 13 is just not mature enough yet to be riding or driving.
Sorry, but it's true.

Here in BC you have to be 16. (but I think that may change to eighteen)

Don't know of any state where you can ride a bike on the streets or hiways without a driver's license.

In every state you need a motorcycle license to ride even a moped on the street. The age at which you can get a License is 16 in all states. The age at which you can get a permit (this means usually no passengers, and no riding after dark) varies from 14-16 depending on the state.

I can't speak for california but here in wyoming you have to be 15 to get a permit for either a car or a motorcycle, and you can get a license at 16. MSF course completion allows you to get your motorcycle endorsement with no other tests (if you have a car license).

If you really want to ride that bad I would suggest getting a dirt bike riding in the dirt (which is still loads of fun in its own right)

In Missouri you don't need a license, or to be 16 to ride a scooter, or a moped.

I wish you had kept that to yourself, Ron. 8) Do 600cc scooters fall under that law, too?
