Tinted Face Shield?

Does anyone use a tinted face shield instead of sunglasses? I'm looking into doing this, but I wonder, how is it at night? Is the tint too dark to see well?
Or do you just switch out to a clear shield for at night?
The sheild on my HJC CS-12 got really scratched this weekend, so I'm looking to replace. I normally wear sunglasses under my helmet, but on long trips they eventually hurt the sides of my head. So i was thinking of going to a tinted shield.
I should probably just go to a store and check them out, but I just dont have time, so I wanted to order online...
Oh, anyone have any suggestions of where to get face sheilds cheap?
Any input on this would be helpful.
Thanks!

I love my tinted visors. I wouldn't think of riding during the day without it. They aren't great for use at night as they reduce your visibility quite a lot, but it only takes seconds to change over to clear with most helmets.

I have the CL-12. I use an extra dark smoke visor and love it. I ride at night fine, no problems.

I guess there's no arguing with success, i.e., you haven't killed yourself yet, but this is incredibly dangerous!
Me, I've got sunglasses, a smoke visor, and a clear visor with a UV filter/tint strip applied at the top of it (made by the Green Light folks).
I can pick and choose so I'm ready for anything!

i have a chrome tinted visor and i think its hard to see at night but i only have my temps so i can ride at night anyways. They look really good but scratch really easy, bugs can make scratches on the film also.

I use a mirror tint shield (HJC AC-11). I carry a clear with me for at night.
If you don't want to carry a second shield, bring clear glasses and leave the shield up at night.
I have a windshield so I can just open the shield as needed. on short local runs. If I am going for a longer ride, I switch to the clear at night.

I've never seen many drivers wearing dark glasses at night, and always thought there was a reason. At least for most people, it simply makes it harder to see. Infiltrators from other planets, however, have better night vision than we mere mortals, ahd aren't bothered by darkness' effect on our vision. If you know someone who can see well at night wearing dark glasses, watch them carefully, as they may be demons from outer space.

I wear cheap, close-fitting wrap-around type sunglasses in the daylight and just take them off at night, simply because I can't be hassled with hauling an extra shield around with me on the bike.
