What do you think of this bike? Will i just end up using this for a year then end up selling it?

How does this compare with the YZF600R?

I want to go with the bike that will last me the longest. I also want to compare quality of the bikes. Im a new rider (as ive said before)

The YZF is faster. The 500 will be plenty fast for a new rider and hella more forgiving. And the GS500F looks pretty cool. Though they both do. Go for the GS500F. Oh yeah, the GS500F is about $2,000 cheaper. I'm guessing the YZF has nearly double the power of the GS.

Around here i see the YZF for about 3500 obo used.. usually 1998 - 2002. Im having a hard time finding the GS500F but i kind of do think it is the better choice. Other than want ad and cycle trader what options do i have for used bikes? obviously the stealer but their gona rob me blind!

Are ether bikes good starters? Right now i dont hae a lot of money, i want to get the bike before winter but i most likely wont have the money. (im still in school, work after school part time)..

No, he means more forgiving (easier to ride) so you won't fall.

And if you, let's say, hit a bump and your hand tweeks the throttle. Less of a lurch on the 500 than the YZF. or if it's raining and you get on it a bit too much. Or even if you let the clutch out too fast or give it too much throttle on the take off, less likely to flip out from uner you.

Sport bikes in the 600 class like to pound newbies into the ground like a nail if you hit the throttle too hard....
