i called the tx department of transportation to find out how to get a ttile for my bike, as i was only provided with a bill of sale. i was asked for a vin number. i thought this was found on the steering fork, on the frame..on my 81 honda cx500, it started with PC0100B....i tried 3 different numbers i found, 2 on the frame, in that area, and on the engine. she said it brought nothing up...she also said it wouldnt start with PC. any ideas????

How long since it was registered ? If it brought nothing up that only means that it is out of the system and you can do a "Lost Title" on it .
The VIN should be on the right side (usually) of the neck portion of the frame.
Regards, Wizzard
If you can do the lost title you will save your self a great deal of back fees .

i honestly have no clue as to the last time it was registered. but i would think somewhere around 1990, as thats what the inspection sticker indicates on the fork (bought it in oklahoma). so i would guess 15 years and its out of the system? haha...the only other thing...the 'vin number' on the neck starts with PC...she told me it wouldnt start with PC. so now im lost. thanks for your input wizzard, i appreciate it!

The VIN will be about 17 digits long, so if the number that you found that starts with PC isn't that long, then it's not the VIN.
