hey guys, i'm new to this forum, and i am about to buy my first bike, i'm lookin right now at a gsxr 600 suzuki, i've rode my dads vrf 800 for the past year, what i want is a racing street, i perfer the 600 class because i am still 17 and if i get a 1000 it will cost me a butt load of money just to pay for insurance is my choice in a suzuki correct? or should i be looking at a different brand or model?, i'm sure u guys are crazy about ur yamaha or honda u own, but please don't try to be bias about "this bike is better cause i own it"

a GSX-R600 is still gonna cost a pretty penny to insure for someone your age. Probably almost as much as the liter bike.

Quick question. What type of bike is the VRF800. Im gonna guess its a honda Interceptor (VFR 800).

If you've been riding a sportbike for the past year then I would say that the 600 wont be too much of a suprise for you. But if the bike your describing is a cruiser then the sportbike is gonna be a whole new experience.

Definately do the MSF course if you haven't already. That will lower your insurance a bit.

well what were doing is my mom is gonna get her licence, and be the prim driver, and i'll pay for mine and her insurance, costing me only 655 a year on insurance, and yah it is the interceptor, but i was talkin to a guy at a honda and suzuki dealer and he said that it's something like 128 horsepower, and the interceptor would be lucky if it makes 100, and the gsxr is also 50 lbs lighter, would it still not be much faster?

Well, the GSX-600R is a much higher revving engine to produce the horsepower. So you gotta "rev the snot" out of it to really use the juice.

But, it really isn't the best bike to start on and I'm surprised you were "ok" on the honda Interceptor. But the honda Interceptor is a bike of a different color.

Why not look at a GS500F? Good bike that you CAN use 50-80% of its potential on in your first few years. (notice I say few years). I'm on a 1982 650 Seca with 73hp (more with the mods I got) and I'm only approaching the 75% mark after 4 years on it.

i took a course, i think it's the 1 u guys r talkin aobut, kinda like young drivers but for bikes instead of cars, next year i'm looking to tkae a fast track course 2

haha yah, dad doens't care...i'll wait to tell mom once i buy bike, is there a big difference between 750 and 600 gsxr?

the 750 is a bit more powerful and has a bit bigger frame

It really depends. What is your MAIN goal of owning a 600 or 750cc bike? City, Highway, Curves, Track, Steet, Traffic, Horsepower, to show off??
