Hi! New Guy From Maine With Question

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and found this site while looking for MSF info. Can anyone tell me how much a MSF course usually costs? I'm 40, and used to ride dirt bikes in my younger days. Now I'm looking into a dual-sport bike for commuting to work (15 miles each way, no highways), some cruising, and a little trail riding. Have my eye on the KLR650, would like to buy used, and not until the spring. Great site here, and have learned a lot already while lurking.

Spaceman,

I don't know about in your neck of the woods but here in Raleigh, NC the MSF course costs $300.

Hope this helps...

Hi and welcome to the forum. I believe the MSF course price varies depending where you are. Here in New Mexico the price is $160 but its well worth the pricetag.

Steve, who does business as Central Maine Motorcycle School, said classes are $200 to $300 here. He will probably start offering the class to the public in 2006 (he's taught classes for the military for decades). It looks like ALL instructors have shut down for the season.

Steve taught the 8-hour classroom session that turned in to my learner's permit. I thought he did a good job and will look for his MSF "range" classes next spring.

If you live in another part of the state, check the United Bikers of Maine page: http://www.ubm-usa.org/. It looks like some of the schools in the 8-hour list now also offer the 2-day course.

I live on the York/Cumberland county line, so I was hoping to find something in the greater Portland area, but haven't found anything yet. :frusty:

Guess I'll have to give the MSF a call. I've found plenty of the 8 hr courses, but I really want the two days.
