GS500F V. Ninja 500 in Florida

#1 Unread post by los8 »

I posted about what would be a good first bike for me. Most people seem to say either the ninja or the Gs. I like the GS looks wise more but am wondering if the air cooling would have a problem in the hot summer months in Florida. Any ideas? Thank you in advance for any help

I agree, the GS looks better. I don't think the air cooled motor will have many issues. Just keep moving.

No issues w/ air cooling, don't worry about it. Plenty of people ride air cooled bikes in the deserts of AZ, NV, CA, etc etc and it's no big deal.

air cooling is fine in florida, especially for engine's those sizes. I notice you are from Orlando, do you go to UCF? Bike parking on campus is much easier to get than car parking! haha

Yea, I go to UCF. Im guessing you go also? I may have seen your bike if you have parked recently. Ive been checking out every bike I see on campus. Have yet to see a GS in person tho. and yes I have seen that motorcycle parking is much easier than car parking

When I had an air cooled bike, I never noticed any problems, of course an air cooled bike doesn't have a temp gauge, so how would I know. My current bike is liquid cooled and will get hot (but not in the red) while at bike week, but that's the only time it's ever gotten that hot. Traffic moves very very slowly there.
