What is the best gear to wear while riding? Which is better: leather or mesh? riding shoe or riding boot? I'll probably buy them from NewEnough.com simply due to its supreme popularity here on the forum. Thanks.

Leather is better but also hotter. The best gear is stuff that you will wear every time you ride. I would go with the boots for the better protection as well.

It gets real hot down here, it peaks around August at about 100-105 degrees. But I'd rather feel really hot than wreck and not be able to feel at all. Also, do you recommend chaps or just thick denim jeans?

Safety first, it sounds like you've got your head screwed on right.

For best protection I'd say riding grade Leather, however I'll admit I usually wear jeans.

There are mesh jackets that have armour padding, I have one, usually worn under my Leather but occasionally just under a Denim Jacket. I am convinced it stopped me braking my collar bone when I came off my bike.

The armour pushes off my chest and I have a big pair of motorbike boots that also push out a lot from the front. The combination kept my legs off of the deck more or less and I only got mild roadrash.

Earlier this year I was at a bike show and found that I can get leggings with armour padding from the same company to wear under normal trousers. Its become my 'must have' item for this year.
