yep.

Choices for a commercially available diesel powered motorcycle are incredibly slim.

If you know of any other options, please let me know.

Ahhh  I'm new to this site. Other boards I frequent don't lock topics so I was confused.

Thanks for the info. $12k is a bit much for a KLR. Guess you could make up the $$ in a few years at 100+ MPGs?

That's my thought as well. Apparently there is also plans to make the engine itself available for purchase, but I think the price tag on that is somewhat more exorbitant. I don't think a person would really save much by buying a stock KLR and then buying the diesel engine and doing the changeover themselves.

I'm gonna slide this thread over into the TMT section.

I was wanting to find a bike to run on B100. I have a "home-brew" refinery (80 to 100 US gals per day) in the works for myself and to sell to a few friends.

I would like to run a bike on a fuel that smells like fries and is environmentally, economically, and socially more appropriate.

Multi-fuel engine.

I heard that the KLR provided to the US military is a 'multi-fuel' engine that will basically run on any combustable liquid. Diesel, Kerosene, Gasoline. I don't know if it's available commercially though. I would imagine it would be extremely expensive.

$12000US to Hayes Diversified Technologies to order your D650A1 Bulldog which they will then deliver to you sometime in the second quarter of 2006.

This is the sillyvillian version of the M1030, which is the USMC Diesel KLR

Why not, if we can have diesel aircraft engines?

Keyoke and I were at a Show a few years ago and we were wandering around this survival rat for what felt like ages trying to figure out what it was that looked wrong with it.

Eventually we read the notes and it was in for engineering - the nutcase in question had squeezed a Ford 1600cc Diesel engine into the frame of a bike. Not being the prettiest thing in the world he elected to spray the whole thing Matt black.

It impressed me though.

I couldn't find the original post that was locked, but here is another choice. Probably not capabale of being licensed in the U.S., though. It is the Centaurus 851, which is being marketed by a German firm. My guess is it is a converted Enfield. Puts out about 20HP and top speed of about 75mph.
