hey guys just want your info on this bike i found, 2004 Ninja 250 less than 600 miles, $3000...sound like a good deal or not?
also does yamaha make a 250 or a 500?
also 2005 suzuki gs500 sport for $4000, does that sound bad or not, this bike is being sold buy METROCYCLE in ATLANTA GA., are they a good dealer?
thanks steven
Sounds like your paying near new prices for used motorcycles. And the fact that it is in atlanta right now would be a bit scary to me. have them put the bike way up on its rear tire and see if any water comes out the tail pipe.
Kawasaki's webpage lists suggested retail of an 05 Ninja 250 at 2999.00. I guess if you're going to spend 3k on a bike I'd go with a new one myself. Check out cycle trader, they have a lot of options for both new and used. I'm sure you can find a good used ninja for less than that. As for the GS, that might be a better deal. Suzuki's suggested retail on an 05 GS500F is 5100. I'd explore that one a bit. Maybe you're getting a end of year deal or something.
i found those "deals" in cycle trader, WATER OUT THE TAIL PIPE, ARE YOU SERIOUS? never heard of such, man i confused, this whole new WORLD of CYCLING is a strange one!, so should i honestly buy a new bike being a beginner and all, i really don't care about scratches and dings but i also don't have the bike i'm that when i get it i'll be FREAKIN' over the first scratch. anyway thanks steven
Steven,
Fellow Athenian here, there was a bike for sale in Watkinsville that I saw not too long ago (on CraigsList I believe). It was an older bike (80's), but was only about $1k.
I will see if I can find the link and send it to you.
Matt
holy siht i thought i was the only athenian around these parts but i have been proved wrong, damn glad to meet ya! 80's no offense guys but i was born in the 80's (83 to be exact) but i think it might be a ittle to old for me, ( not my style) but i do want to thank you for considering the bike, and the price sounds great, my only problem is that i want finance the bike and i highly don't think i could get a loan on such an old bike. thats why i have asked on here many times WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT DEALERS??? anywho, i'm in brunswick right now and its getting time to get on the road and ride on home w/ the kid and wifey.
thanks for the help, wait Matt find out some info. on the bike drop me a line on here or via e-mail ( jacksonwc05@yahoo.com )
Thanks Steven
I hate to urge people away from a 250, a bike they want to learn on... BUT financing a 250cc bike probably isnt the best idea. I know as a learning tool, the ninja 250 is awesome.
Do yourself a huge favor and save up for a few months. Then buy a learner bike with cash. Otherwise, you might be stuck with say a 2 or 3 year note on a bike you could very well outgrow in 2 months.
I know the vets say its funner to go on a slow bike fast, then go on a fast bike slow. There comes a point when you will experience the reality of having an itty-bitty bike with a damn long note.
I too am looking for a first bike and I have found it usefull to search the NADA.com & Kelly Blue book to get an estimate value for a bike before going to look at it.
NADA always seems to have a lower value though?? it is also the book used by dealers when you trade one in. so I'd say somewhere between NADA average value and Kelly blue book is the price that should be paid.
Water in the tailpipe was a lame attempt at humor. Didn't that place get flooded pretty good? All those vehicles down close to that area got pretty trashed.
