cheating the insurance

#1 Unread post by jtf_explorer »

my first bike was a 1980 cb900 custom insured 1 year through progressive for $350. Now i just bought my 1100 shadow and its cost $630 a year for insurance. I am 20 years old and i am trying to find out the fastest bikes that come with cheap insurance for kids under 25. I just got a quote for a 2000 V-Max at $490. This is the fastest bike i have found with a reasonable insurance price. 600 sport bike and strreetfighters range from $2500 to $5000 and the one liters are at $8000 to $11,000 a year. insane, but probably just so they don't loose money due to us nuts. I was just wondering what other bikes you guys had in mind that were considered as "fast" bikes but may still have an affordable insurance rate. let me know some bikes from late 90's and newer and i will check. I have seen other topics before the hackers of others interested about this as much as me.

hmm, fast bike with cheap insurance. Depends on your definition of fast.

crotch rocket? not likely to get cheap insurance, anywhere.

I ride a 22 year old standard, 673cc, and I can easily hit 110mph (not that I really need to be able to ride that fast - I'm not riding on a track). My insurance? about $140 per year, not that that really helps you, given that I'm a bit older than 25.

That V-max quote is pretty good for a bike that has enough stonk to pull a freakin bus. I think that's probably about as good as it gets.

May want to check
Triumph speed four (Speed triple's probably way too much)
Suzuki SV650 / sv1000
Ducati Monster 900 / S4 / S4R

what about the kawasaki ZRX1200? More of a standard but the displacement is probably the kicker.

Won't have any luck with the SV's. They're classified as sport bikes to the insurance companies. With good reason too honestly, at least as the 1000 goes. Cheapest full coverage I found was $1,800. I'm 21 btw.

If you're talking about straight-line fast, then this is the cheapest way to go. How much could insurance be for a 30 year old KZ1000?

sv650 is at $1780 a year
kawi 1200 is $3300, and i like this one but way too high insurance. it reminds me of my old 900 but newer and faster.
and finishing in the number one spot is the speed four at only $1070 a year. is the four a 650? i'll have to check this bike out a little more. keep the sugestions coming and i will check the rates.

XJR1200 - would reccomend a bit more riding experience before you consider any of these. I've been riding about 17yrs now, and almost got caught out by my Vmax....
Don't give up.

Not now, not soon, not after being continually knocked down.

If you never give up, you can never truly fail.

youd be better off buying the bike cash without taking a loan for it, if you own the bike you dont need full coverage and the price is drastically less. i have a suzuki katana 600 i pay 500$ a year for half a million dollar coverage for medical/damages, but the bikes not covered... why would i pay 5k+ a year on a bike that cost me 3k to buy.

take out a personal loan if you can float that with your bank then your paying a loan, not a lean on the bike title.

you could get an early Gixxer 1000 around the late 80's-very early 90's...my CBR 600 only costs me 300 bucks a year for full coverage with low deductables..it is an 87 tho...but i really have no need to go faster than 175...and yes...it will do that...i've checked.
