Sound manlier? (is that a word?)
Sound manlier? (is that a word?)
I recently purchased a Vulcan 500 LTD and I love the bike. The only thing I wish is that it sounded a little meaner. I didn't know if anyone had any advice or any tricks or parts they could recommend? All advice is appreciated...

My son has a 500en. He drilled out the end of each muffler with 8 1/2 inch diameter holes...rode it for a year and recently plugged them back up to enjoy the original quiet. This is a very competent bike...plenty quick and light handling for a cruiser style machine. I'd leave it alone and make a quiet statement as you blow past most of the bigger, heavier, louder machines...and get 55 mpg doing it, in sixth gear.
Incidently, a parallel twin cannot sound anything like a v-twin with a single pin crankshaft...it will sound like an old triumph or norton, at best, and I'm sure that isn't the sound you're looking for. Not really "mean". Just louder.

Ride safe...God bless!
