Venting on the weather....

So we've been screwed out of summer around here this year..... cold and rainy, generally pissy weather all 'round. We had 2 weeks of nice, warm weather and that's it. Hell, a month ago, I answered the knock at my door at 11 pm and found a cop there with a 'Be Prepared to Evacuate' notice after a few feet rain fell in a couple of days. Since then, it's rained most everyday. Bad enough, but combined with 40-45*F temps, it has made me slightly cranky. My riding has been reduced to Kamikaze runs late at night after work, between showers. Wet pavement, cold tarmac, over-excited rider...... it's been interesting.... .... but cold.

So yesterday, things gelled together better than they have for almost 2 months.... sun shining, temps up to 70*F, and a day off work.... I blew-off the stuff I shoulda done(mow the lawn, service the truck, clean the house, ect.) and tore off a couple hundred miles on the bike. Then I went home, picked up the wife and snuck in another 100 miles.

No problem, I had today off too, so I can do all the crud I shoulda done yesterday, right? 8am this morning, I get called into work..... the lawn will need a thresher instead of a lawnmower soon, and I'm about to make the wife start walking to work rather than put more miles on the poor truck without at least an oil change, and it's sposed to start raining again tomorrow. :frusty:

Now the leaves are turning..... F**K, summers over!!! I feel ripped off!!! And I'm not all that happy about it.

Anyway... sorry for the beef session, just had to get that off my chest.

several years ago I sent one of my daughters in Calgary an umbrella as a gift, real nice hand painted by a friend of mine. Well my daughter thanked me for the gift but said it was unlikely she'd ever use it as it NEVER rains in Calgary... I wonder just how tasty crow is???

Having tasted more crow than I cared too, I still say it tastes better than frost...... and worlds better than snow.

So if your daughter gives back that umbrella, do you think the rain may follow it??? Puulleezzz...... 8)

Nah.. I think the west coast gets more than it's fair share of the wet stuff, she can keep the umbrella. I feel your pain, but being able to ride 12months/year suits me fine... 8)

Things could be worse, Buzz--you could be living in Louisiana or Texas on the Gulf coast. 8)

Yeah, well, sure, that's true..... but it takes all the fun out of my whine now, don't it. Mind you, I never had a strong desire to reside very close to that much water, and such possibilities are a big reason why. I'm not real bright, but I see the folly of living 6 feet below sea level right next to the ocean. That much water is just asking for trouble.

We certainly get our fair share of rain in Seattle, but it's usually a pretty light rain. The road is just as wet of course but it ain't all that bad. The wet season is just now getting started. You can spot the out-of-towners by the umbrellas - doesn't seem like the locals don't ever use them. The only time I get mine out is on the golf course.

While we are whining.....
I had the same kind of summer....more work than I could ever have imagined and the same crap weather as you when I finally DID get a day off.
The good news? Well, I finally got the quads out for the first time last weekend after 9 months of bad-backus..... At least there is always the option of hauling the bikes south for a week this winter.....if I get a chance at a week off that is.....
