What about additives for gas , are they good to use on your bike I'm talking carb cleaner and anything else that may be beneficial to the bikes performance.
also about the rank , how does your ranking increase is there something special I should be doing ??

hey bubbyt

Gasoline contains small amounts of water. Since water is heavier than gasoline, it will start to accumulate in the bottom corners of your gas tank. That's why older bikes can get small pinholes in the bottom of the tank, this is due to water building up causing rust. This is especially true if you never use the entire reserve. If you're in a northern climate like me, your fuel lines can freeze over winter in storage even though they may have gas in them.

I'd suggest the occasional use of a Prestone Gas Treatment or the equivalent. This is really an antifreeze (alcohol-based) that helps the water mix with the gas. They also have cleaners etc that will help clear the gunk out of your carbs. Add a small bottle of it to a full tank evey couple of months.

Like muz said, using a bit of gas line antifreeze (alcohol) will get rid of water in the fuel system. Gasoline stabilizer is necessary when your going to store the bike for an extended period (anything more than a couple of months). Octane booster is only necessary if you've greatly modified your engine. As for carb cleaners and such, I wouldn't bother, most gas have detergents to minimize deposits. The best way to clean your carbs is to remove & disassemble them. It shouldn't be necessary to do this unless something goes very wrong (dirty gas/no fuel filter/forgot the stabil).
And your ranking goes up with the number of posts.

can i use a regular walmart carb cleaner in my cycle? or does it have to be a "motorcycle" cleaner i'd by from my dealer.

of course i'd use only enough for a 4 gallon tank.

if you look at the ingredients, they're all pretty much the same stuff, naptha and other petroleum distillates, the amounts of which might be different, but most of them are real close, just packaged different.

You guys do know if you do go into a store and purchace any type of gasoline additive ur being staked out and watched by law enforcement officials, or ur face is being recorded on camera for future reference. If ur a good law abiding person you have nothing to worry about, but remember when you buy it big brother is watching you. Why? gasoline additives , mostly gas line anti freeze is a main ingredient in the making of illegal drugs, "meth" meth labs. Where I live everybody is either on drugs or making drugs. Hey like wow man, can you lend me $60, I need a fix man. About a month ago I ran into a guy I went to school with, he was the smartest kid in school, I said "Hi Steve, its been a long time, what are you doing now? Soon I found out that Steve is a burnt out drug addict, he said "Hey Man I need a Fix" I feel sorry for them cause I know they are addicted for life, the only thing they care about is where their next fix is coming from.

/rolleyes

On occasion there will be pamphlets that are circulated through drugstores and like asking for cashiers to watch for people making LARGE purchases of various over the counter drugs, however even that is rarely taken seriously. I'll bet you money I could buy $200 to $1000 worth of gasoline additives and no one would even bat an eye, and the cops would not show up at my house.

You sir, need to chill out.
