I'm probably going to get either Oxtar or Alpinestars. On NewEnough.com, the Alpinestars are cheaper. What boots do you recommend? Do you think I should reconsider my brand choices? Thanks.

I may be biased, but my Alpinestars boots kept my foot attached to my leg during an accident. I will be forever grateful and will recommend them at any opportunity.

Yeah, I thought about Sidi, but I prefer something American. Now if a foreign company makes the absolute without-a-doubt product, I'll go with that.

I have a pair of Gaerne Shockwave boots that I've had for one year. They are very comfortable and I'm pleased with the quality of them.

I intend to get a pair of Gaerne G-RS boots next.

My vote is for Sidi. Bought my boots on a Saturday and five days later met a van driver in my lane on her cell phone while executing a very tight curve. Missed the van and the metal guardrail but snagged my boot on the pavement. Bruised the hell out of my big toe and twisted my knee very bad. Cheap boots would have resulted in a broken ankle and probably 1-2 toes and probably face down on the asphalt at 50 (full face helmet). Didn't dump the bike so nothing else injured. My vote is for Sidi and very good gear.

Stupid question, have you tried them on in real life? If so whichever fits best. If not, try them on, and whichever fits best.

Buying boots sight unseen is almost as stupid (though less expensive) then buying a used motorcycle without first looking it over to make sure it'll run.

I'm with Sev -- Go try on a pair.

Personally, I've always preferred a pair of Harley's; in particular, the Jackboot style with the squared toe. Rather comfy for me, and the flat toe makes for really fast shifting.
